New Multimap site

Well finally I can talk about something that’s been ongoing at work - the redesign of the new Multimap web experience. I’ve been leading the experience design part of the redesign project, and it’s finally here!

Visit the new site here…

…and you’ll be able to access the new features and functionality, based on Multimap’s brand shiny API.

I’m really proud to have been part of the design team that’s worked so hard to realise this. IMO (and I am biased) this site now far outperforms Google in its user experience - and that’s despite the advertising that could potentially have cramped the interface.

There’s so much that’s nice to play with, but for me, the best bits are:
:: new printing functionality, that’s usable and formatted nicely for A4
:: the ‘email’ function, that remembers you if you’re logged in (it’s the small touches that in my opinion make all the difference)
:: the quality of the maps themselves (the hybrid view’s a killer) and the quality of the Point of Interest information that the user can reveal over the map

Oh, and the overall design system that we’ve worked so hard to nail - a modular, application-like experience that allows the Multimap guys to plug in new functionality and content without straining the interface or allowing it to feel like it’s over-specified.

All in all, its a tribute to all the talented people at Multimap and LBi that worked on it…
