Design Craft: Rob Pardo and the Warcraft design process

Part of my job sees me thinking seriously about design and design process, and it’s always good to get fresh insight into creativity. Business Week have this interview with Rob Pardo, the VP of game design for World of Warcraft. Not really what I do – although I did go through a spell in my life where I had a passing addiction to the world of Azeroth. Yes. I had absolutely no life. For a while.

Anyways, I thought the interview was an interesting perspective on the process that has generated one of the most commercially successful games ever…particularly the bit about starting with big ideas and being prepared to throw them all away and start again once they get down the development line…
